Special Bulletin - The Rate Sheet Is Changing

In the works for a while, the ARRL Contester's Rate Sheet is
undergoing a pair of changes, one small and one big.

The small change is that the name is changing to "ARRL Contest Update
- News and Techniques for the Active Operator". The name "Rate
Sheet" wasn't a universally understood term, even by contesters! The
new name more closely represents what the newsletter contains.

The big change is that beginning with the 28 May issue, the
newsletter will be emailed in a combined HTML and text-only format.
(Readers that prefer text-only will still be able to read it that way
using most email clients.) The HTML format allows us to present a
more attractive package that is easier to read. Photos and graphics
will also be included for the first time.

Back issues will be available on the ARRL Web site in HTML format.
You can save the issues as HTML files using a Web browser or in PDF
format by using a PDF printer program, such as the free PDFCreator
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/).

We're going to start slow with a limited amount of HTML snazziness, a
few photos, and a couple of ARRL graphic ads. (No, you won't be
subjected to a blizzard of ads.) There will be erors and things that
don't work as well as they should. Please bear with us during the
growing pain period and soon the HTML version will seem like the old
friend that the text-only version has become.

Thanks for your readership and support. I look forward to many more
editions.
