= NOW 40 WPM = CHANGING BANDS IS JUST A MATTER OF UNSCREWING A HAMSTICK AND RETHREADING ANOTHER OR, IN THE CASE OF THE HUSTLER, JUST CHANGING THE RESONATOR OR HAVING MULTIPLE RESONATORS MOUNTED. THIS IS THE ESSENCE OF THE INSTALLATIONS I HAVE USED FOR OVER 30 YEARS. I HAVE NOT DONE ANY THEORETICAL STUDIES, MEASUREMENTS, OR COMPARISONS. ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT IT WORKS, AND IT IS SIMPLE AND INEXPENSIVE. A FULL RF EXPOSURE SAFETY ASSESSMENT MUST BE MADE WITH THIS TYPE O TECHNICAL CORRESPONDENCE A CUSTOMIZED RADIO CARRIER AND BOAT HAM STATIONS A CUSTOM TACTICAL RADIO CARRIER THIS PROJECT ILLUSTRATES HOW YOU CAN BUILD A STURDY, COMPACT TACTICAL RADIO ENCLOSURE WITH SPECIFIC DESIGN REQUIREMENTS. IMADE ONE FOR A KENWOOD TM D710G DUAL BAND TRANSCEIVER, AND IT ACCOMMODATES A COOLING FAN AND A SWITCH. INTERFACE CABLES ARE ACCESSIBLE ON THE BACK OF THE CASE, MAKING IT CONVENIENT TO USE IN THE FIELD DURING EMERGENCY EXERCISES. CUSTOMIZATION GIVES YOU CONTROL OVER THE SIZE OF YOUR ENCLOSURE AND PROVISIONS FOR EXTRAS, SUCH AS CUTOUTS ON SIDE PANELS FOR A MICROPHONE PLUG, A HANDLE, A NINE PIN RIGHT ANGLE SERIAL COMMUNICATIONS CABLE FOR A PC SEE FIGURE 1, OR A FAN SEE FIGURE 2. BE SURE TO USE SAFETY MEASURES REGARDLESS OF YOUR DESIGN REQUIREMENTS. FIRST, YOU WILL NEED ALUMINUM PANELS CUT TO SIZE, AS WELL AS ALUMINUM ANGLES. BE SURE THAT THE LENGTHS OF THE ALUMINUM ANGLES ARE THE SAME LENGTHS AS YOUR PANELS SEE FIGURE 1. BEFORE HANDLING THEM, SAND THE EDGES WITH 300 OR 320 GRIT SANDPAPER. LOOK CLOSELY AT THE WAY THE VERTICAL PANEL SEE FIGURE 3 OVERLAPS THE HORIZONTAL PANEL BETWEEN THE TWO MACHINE SCREWS. THIS WILL ALLOW A PANEL THAT IS THE SAME SIZE AS THE TOP AND BOTTOM HORIZONTAL PANELS TO BE USED INSIDE THE ENCLOSURE FOR A FAN OR OTHER DEVICE SEE FIGURE 2. NOTICE THE PLACEMENT DIFFERENCE OF THE MACHINE SCREWS CONNECTING THE ALUMINUM ANGLE TO THE PANEL. THE SCREW ON THE TOP IS 3/8 INCH FROM THE CORNER, WHILE THE SCREW ON THE SIDE IS 1/2 INCH FROM THE CORNER. THIS WILL ENSURE JUST ENOUGH ROOM FOR THE OPPOSING NUTS. NUMBER ALL OF THE PANELS AND ANGLES, THEN LABEL THEIR POSITIONS IN REGARD TO ONE ANOTHER. THIS WILL PREVENT A MIX UP OF THE HARDWARE DURING TRIAL ASSEMBLIES. DEPENDING ON YOUR ENCLOSURES SIZE, DECIDE ON THE SPACING AND PLACEMENT OF THE MACHINE SCREWS CONNECTING THE ANGLES AND PANELS. AFTER MEASURING FOR SCREW PLACEMENT, DRILL THE FIRST HOLE 1/2 INCH IN FROM THE END OF THE ALUMINUM ANGLE WITH A 3/32 INCH DRILL BIT. DRILL THE HOLE THROUGH THE ALUMINUM ANGLE AND PANEL TOGETHER. THEN, DRILL THE HOLE WITH A 9/64 INCH DRILL BIT TO TAKE A 6 32 X 1/4 INCH MACHINE SCREW. DEBURR IF NECESSARY. LIGHTLY TIGHTEN THE ALUMINUM ANGLE AND PANEL TOGETHER WITH THE SCREW AND A LOCKNUT. THE SECOND HOLE WILL BE MADE AT THE OPPOSITE END OF THE ALUMINUM ANGLE. FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE ABOVE, AND ENSURE THE PANEL MESHES PERFECTLY WITH THE ALUMINUM ANGLE. TIGHTEN THE SCREWS AND CONTINUE WITH THE REMAINING SCREW PLACEMENTS. ASSEMBLE THE UNIT TO ENSURE ALL OF THE PARTS FIT CORRECTLY, WHILE REFERRING TO THE POSITION NOTES YOU = END OF 40 WPM TEXT = QST DE W1AW <
