Today I have been hearing many California beacons on 10 meters as well as K7EMX/B in Utah. So I have been calling CQ on 28005.00 for several hours and not one single answer to my calls. I have also been listening to AE6RQs SDR and my signal has been between 579 and 20 over S 9 from 1700 to 2100Z. I dont have a 6 meter antenna up right now but wish I did. I expect many have migrated to FT 8 etc. Sad, being an old timer I still love the sound of CW. I appreciate your propagation reports. I copy them regularly on CW via W1AW. Scott Avery, WA6LIE in Salinas, California reported a nice sporadic E opening on 6 meters during Mothers Day, May 12. We had a good opening from 1430 to 2030 UTC here in Salinas CM96. Had a lot of FT8 activity logging 45 contacts there and 6 QSOs on SSB. Conditions were very wild for a bit on SSB with multiple QSOs on the same frequency ie, 50.130, 50.135 etc. That lasted for about 2 hours after about 1600z. Worked all I heard and worked many grid squares. The MAGIC band. Got to luv it. K9LA recently updated a 2007 article he wrote for WorldRadio on ionospheric sounders, which were referenced in recent bulletin ARLP019. //metrics.af7ti.com/ //www.cqwpx.com/ If you would like to make a comment or have a tip for our readers, email the author at, k7ra at arrl.net. Estimated planetary A indices were 8, 5, 5, 3, 6, 4, and 4, with a mean of 5. Middle latitude A index was 9, 7, 8, 3, 7, 4, and 5, with a mean of 6.1. In the only contested Section Manager election this spring, ARRL members in Utah have re elected Mel Parkes, NM7P, as Section Manager for a new 2 year term of office that starts on July 1. Parkes, of Layton, received 481 votes. His opponent, Pat Malan, N7PAT, of South Jordan, received 233 votes. Parkes has served as Section Manager since 1999. Ballots were counted and verified at ARRL Headquarters on May 21. Elsewhere, John Gotthardt, K1UAF, of Wolfeboro, will become Section Manager of New Hampshire on July 1. He was the only nominee for the post after New Hampshire Section Manager Pete Stohrer, K1PJS, of Concord, decided not to run for a new term after serving since 2013. Gotthardt is currently the Section Traffic Manager and also serves as Net Manager and Official Relay Station. ‰ END OF 18 WPM transition file ƒ
