DXers know that I just returned from a Pacific Ocean DXpedition to Kure Island, KH7K. To get there and back took close to two weeks of sailing, during which this landlubber got quite an education, a number of new calluses, and a hefty dose of vocabulary from which you benefit in this puzzle, a savory cioppino of ham and nautical jargon. This one is dedicated to our intrepid captain, Bill Austin of the Machias - an honor and a privilege, sir!
