The Big Island International Hamfest and swap meet will be at the Waimea community center in Waimea (Kamuela) on Saturday October 4, 2008. It will be from 10AM to 2PM with doors open for setup at 9AM. It is sponsored by Big Island ARC, Kona ARS, Kohala Hamakua ARC and South Point ARC.
The event is free however registration at the door is required and donations will be accepted to offset costs. Sellers are asked for a 10% donation of their sales. There will be ARRL sponsored Amateur Radio Amateur License exams at a time to be determined. Please note that this is a non commercial event that promotes the trading of equipment and information between hams and the general public and to promote the open exchange of information concerning the benefits of exploring Ham Radio as a hobby. NETS: Since the National Traffic System is not as strong in the
Pacific Section as it could be, I have asked to be informed of nets, scheduled
contacts, or regular chats that exist in the Pacific. Thanks to many
operators for sending in their information. Below is a listing of the
nets. If you have an emergency and the only way to request help is by
radio, please check in on any of these nets to pass your emergency traffic.
Don't wait for an emergency, but try checking in and testing conditions.
Also, get to know the great folks on these nets. Please let me know of
corrections and of any more nets, skeds, chats, etc. Kevin
