Monthly Summary for January 2003
Please excuse my absence on maintaining this column. Back in early October, I
came down with a case of the shingles, that manifested itself in my eye.
Fortunately, my eyesight has been spared, and I am now up and running again,
albeit the after effects will continue to linger for many months.
Amateur Radio in this state is in excellent shape, thanks to all the
hard-working clubs, such as the Portland Wireless Association, which is
working with 27 Sea Cadets to get their Amateur ticket, and learning Morse
code as well. The Ellsworth Hams are having a radio symposium at which Gov.
John Baldacci will be in attendance. Other clubs like the Augusta ARC help
support the Childrens Science Center, and the Androscoggin ARC will be working
with Poland Regional HS electronic program. I know there are many other clubs
doing similar activities, so please keep me informed, so I can help spread the
word.
The Maine State Convention will be on March 28 & 29 at the same
location, the Ramada Inn and Conference Center, 490 Pleasant St., Lewiston.
Special room rates are available for the event; be sure to mention the radio
convention, in order to receive the special rate. For reservations, call
207-784-2331.
Looking forward to seeing everyone who can make it. 73, Bill, N1KAT
