    Monthly Section News Summaries

    Monthly Summary for October 2009

Welcome to the North Dakota ARRL Section News for October 2009.

It is already November in North Dakota and the weather has been wonderful. No
snow or cold weather for most of us with temperatures in the 40’s. Perfect
weather for your antenna party! A new Net has just started on 3937 Khz on
Saturday’s after the 12:30 PM WX Net! Bill, N0CKB from Minot had an idea of
getting hams together to share stories and experiences of their old equipment
and to put that equipment ON-THE-AIR. He is hosting the net to be called the
“Boat Anchor Net”. Check in with your vintage equipment and show off your
    signal quality!

The ND QSO party has been scheduled for March 20th and the 21st of 2010. The
current plans are to have a 24 hour ND QSO Party contest this year. If you
have any input on this activity, send me an email at w0cq@arrl.org with your
    thoughts.

    **** SEC Update *****
We are still compiling our list and finalizing our initial plan for the AES
Services in North Dakota. For those of you interested in continuing with
some emergency training, I recommend you take ARRL’s online Emcomm I course.
ARRL does recommend that all ARES members take this training. If you have
any questions during this training, I'd be happy to share my experiences when
I took the training. You will also be assigned an on-line experienced mentor
to whom you will submit your assignments and get assisted help. For Now…
Thanks and 73’s from Melissa, KD0AAK, ND Section Emergency Coordinator

    **** Upcoming Events ****
The Bismarck Hamfest will be held on February 22, 2010 from 9 AM until 2 PM
in Garrison N.D. There will be an ARRL Forum and we are coordinating some
    ARES Training during this Hamfest.
The North Dakota QSO Party will be held on March 20th & 21st, 2010 22, 2010
and is planned to be a full 24 hour contest. This is a great time to get
your WAS or help others out with North Dakota, including a lot of DX trying
to work ND. Stay tuned for the rules on the website of W0CQ.COM.
