Monthly Section News Summaries
Monthly Summary for June 2005
As I take over as Section Manager, I would like to, first of all, thank Al,
N1FIK for his 14 years of service in that position -- it's a hard act to
follow. I would also like to thank everyone who voted in the Section Manager
election, demostrating faith in the democratic process.
As Section Manager, my main goals are to enhance the enjoyment of our hobby
for all amateurs and to organize and enhance our ability to be of service to
our state and our nation.
I hope to provide a two-way communications path between ARRL members in the
state and the national ARRL organization by passing on news, information and
ideas from the national organization and our local members and by collecting
ideas, suggestions, comments, and criticisms from local members and passing
them up the channels to the national organization.
I am pleased to announce that Dave, WA1ZCN, has agreed to continue as Section
Emergency Coordinator (SEC). Dave has, quite literally, writen the book on
emergency communications, serving as editor for the ARRL Emergency
Communications Courses.
I am also pleased to announce that Rich, WB1ASL, and Rob, N1FSK, have agreed
to continue their Assistant Section Manager roles serving, respectively, as
North Country and Scounting liaisons. Peter, W1DAD, has agreed to continue
his work as Official Observer Coordinator.
Two of the initiatives that I'd like to pursue are (1) to get closer
cooperation and information exchange among the various clubs in the state and
(2) encourage individuals to serve as both technical and operating activity
focal points.
I would like to invite anyone interested in serving on the Section Staff in
any capacity to get in touch with me. There are a number of roles that I'd
like to fill with enthusiaistic staff members, especially the area of
providing technical and operating activity focal points for specific
information sharing among amateurs at the state level.
During June, along with SEC WA1ZCN and WW1Y, I traveled a total of 520 miles
to visit eight Field Day sites across the state, including club sites:
CNHARC, CVRC, CCDX, TSRC, GBRA, PCARC, and NARC, plus a non-club site run by
members of Sullivan County ARES. I was very interesting to see different
approaches and styles that were followed at the various sites.
June Traffic NH Totals: Orig: 8, Sent: 124, Rcvd: 98, Deliv: 13, Total: 243.
Thanks to N1NH: 142, WA1JVV: 37, KM1N: 34, and AB1AV: 30.
June Public Service Honor Roll: WA1JVV: 91, KM1N: 84, NH Total: 175.
73, Sterling, AK1K, NH Section Manager
