| World Amateur Radio Day 2005 Award announced (Apr 11, 2005) -- The World Amateur Radio Day 2005 Award commemorates the founding 80 years ago in Paris of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU). World Amateur Radio Day is celebrated each year on April 18, the anniversary of the IARU's founding. The theme of this year's World Amateur Radio Day is "Radio Amateurs Expanding the World of Wireless Communications." The World Amateur Radio Day Award is sponsored by MK QTC, the Polish radio amateurs' journal, with the support of Polski Związek Krótkofalowców (PZK), the Polish Amateur Radio Union and Poland's IARU member-society. Amateur Radio operators may qualify for the World Amateur Radio Day 2005 Award for making 10 QSOs on HF or 5 QSOs on VHF during on World Amateur Radio Day, April 18, 2005, UTC. An application consists of a log extract showing the list of stations worked to: MK QTC, the Radio Amateurs' Journal, Suchacz-Zamek, Wielmozy 5b 82-340 Tolkmicko, Poland, by May 31, 2005. Include $5 (US) or 5 for a color certificate. Shortwave listeners also are eligible for the World Amateur Radio Day 2005 Award by logging the same number of contacts.
