How to Get Adobe Reader

Acrobat/Adobe Reader Problems?

Note: Many of the PDF files used on ARRLWeb will not work with versions of Adobe Reader prior to 6.0 and may cause errors with version 6.

Viewing and printing ARRLWeb's Portable Document Format (PDF) files requires that you obtain and install the free Adobe Reader program. Mac users can use the built-in Preview program (for OS X), however it may not support all the features of Adobe Reader.

ARRL recommends that you install the latest version of Adobe Reader, which can be downloaded directly from Adobe.

If you have an older version of Adobe/Acrobat Reader, it either may not function with files on this site, or may give errors when you try to open files.

The current versions of Adobe Reader as of Jan 2007 are versions 7 and 8.

Note: Adobe Reader is also included on the ARRL Handbook CD 2.0 and later, on recent QST/QEX/NCJ Publication CD-ROMs, and on the ARRL Antenna Book CD.

Once you've downloaded and installed Adobe Reader, you can click on any of ARRLWeb's PDF-file links to view, save or print the document involved--and Adobe Reader's Weblink feature lets you and your browser seamlessly follow the hyperlinks we add to ARRLWeb's PDF documents. (If you've already configured your browser to use Adobe Reader as a viewer and just want to save a PDF file to disk locally instead of spawning the viewer, pressing Shift as you click on the file's hyperlink and/or right-clicking on the hyperlink will give you that option in Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Navigator, and Microsoft Internet Explorer.)
