ARRL Membership Forum: New Opportunities for Every Ham!
Saturday 12:00 PM, Room 2

Amateur Radio entered a new era this year when the FCC eliminated the Morse code examination as a licensing requirement. The change has rekindled enthusiasm among many newcomers and inactive hams. A panel of ARRL staff will share their first hand experiences on the flurry of activity that followed the recent rule changes. Panelists:

Maria Somma, AB1FM -- Manager, ARRL VEC
Hundreds of test sessions were conducted in the days following the FCC rule change. Maria and her team at the office of the ARRL Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (ARRL VEC) continue to enjoy an avalanche of test session paperwork and license applications.

Dan Henderson, N1ND -- ARRL Regulatory Information Specialist
As ARRL’s rules-and-regs expert, Dan has assisted thousands in the Amateur Radio community with help navigating the new rules and privileges. He is also quite active on the air from W1AW, recently led the W1AW HF Open House special event aimed at welcoming newcomers to the HF bands, and is the ARRL Field Day Manager.

Katie Breen, W1KRB -- ARRL Membership Manager
ARRL members have been at the forefront of our growing community of radio amateurs. Since joining the ARRL staff in 2006, Katie has been busy creating and refining programs for ARRL members. She has lead special event activities aimed at encouraging on-air activity among new and newly-active hams, including real-time web blogs and videos, Hello-Live!, and the W1AW HF Open House.
