Come back next year!
Dayton Hamvention 2009 is now over, and many hams are making the journey home.
Hamvention 2009 was my first Dayton, and I was/am blown away! The forums, booths, people, the stuff to see and things to do. The convention rocked, the dinners were excellent, and the suites nothing but pure fun.
I have so many people to thank that bent over backwards to make my first Dayton experience one to remember, especially Khrystyne Keane K1SFA and Bob Inderbitzen NQ1R. Khrystyne and Bob helped make my Dayton the best it could be.
Thank you for following the blog, and 73 till next year!

Before posting my last blog entry, I made a made dash for the famous Hamvention cinnamon almonds!
Crowds are finally thinning and exhibitors are beginning the long process of packing up their booths. Dayton Hamvention 2009 is nearing the end.
You'd never guess that a severe economic recession is raging. Spirits were as high as I've ever encountered. Forums were standing room only in many cases. Quite a few exhibitors told me that they'd sold at least the same amount of goodies as last year and, in some cases, slightly more. It is as though Amateur Radio is a calm harbor in this storm.
Before leaving Hara I had to zip by the "nut stand" to pick up some of the famous Hamvention cinnamon almonds. These things are a delicacy you MUST try if you ever make it to Dayton.
Duncan will continue blogging so keep checking this page, but I must shut down the laptop and head south to the Casa De Mi Madre. I'll spend the remainder of the weekend lounging by the luxurious inflatable pool, sampling re-heated fish sticks and endless bottles of orange soda.
I hope you enjoyed the blogging as much as I did. Isn't technology a hoot?
See you on the air!

I'd say this one speaks for itself!
I think they're nearing 500 contacts, which was the goal. I took a turn at the radio on Friday, and made a few contacts.
Joe Carcia, NJ1Q has done a great job running the station, he even convinced a 9-year old Extra to take a turn! Missed that photo oppurtunity unfortunately.
