Alaska Event for Year Of The State QSO Party

Sep 10, 2009 13:18 ET
Sean E. Kutzko, KX9X

Hi folks-

With the Year of the State QSO Party event winding down, we were dismayed to discover that Alaska still didn't have a QSO Party of their own. However, the entire state is planning one big shindig for their 50th Anniversary of Statehood, and this event seems as good as any QSO Party.

The Alaska 50th Anniversary of Statehood Special Event will be on the air October 18, 2009 from 1800Z until October 19, 2009, 0600Z. There will be fifteen or more stations on from around the state of Alaska all using KL5O (Kilo Lima Five Oscar). We will be on all bands/modes, from 160 through 10 meters, including the WARC bands. This would be a good opportunity for those stations needing Alaska on a particular band or mode to make that needed QSO. Operation will be scheduled to facilitate working North American stations, though all stations worldwide are encouraged to participate.

Making a QSO in this event qualifies as credit for Alaska in the ARRL Year Of The State QSO Party.

QSL confirmation will be electronically via LOTW, eQSL and via mail to AC7DX with SASE for a colorful commemorative QSL card.

For more information, visit their website at www.kl5o.com.

Good luck to all!

Update: 2008 SS Plaques and 2008 September VHF Certificates

Sep 3, 2009 08:17 ET
Sean E. Kutzko, KX9X

Hi folks-

I have been at home with the flu for most of this week. Despite that, there are a couple of things to tell you about.

1) Thanks to my colleague Dan Henderson N1ND, and the nice folks that work in the DXCC office, 2008 September VHF Sweepstakes certificates went out the door a couple days ago. There are a handful that require my attention, but most of the winners should start to see them arrive any time now.

2) Also, because of something that requires my attention, 2008 November Sweepstakes plaques have been delayed. As soon as I get back in the office, I'll take care of the issues and we'll get those plaques out the door to the winners.

If you have sent me an email and haven't received a reply yet, please bear with me as I work down the email pileup.
