This was my first significant RU effort in many years. It was also my first RTTY contest using the RigExpert Standard interface and MixW on the Vista OS. Running an Icom 746 in FSK, I had to do all the tuning with the radio and not with the waterfall. This was not much different than when using a hardware multi-mode controller. I beat my previous best QSO total in this contest (set when there were some sunspots) by about 8 percent. It was good to work some stations on 15m and even some new DX on 80m. It was confusing to see some stations calling CQ in the automatic message network sub-bands.

This was a year more of experimentation with RTTY than making contacts for me. My preferred mode is CW, and though I like RTTY, I don't type well enough to use any keyboard modes for ragchewing. So I spent the RU making occasional Q's and adjusting various settings on the Radio, TNC and DSP599zx while there were a sufficient number of signals for comparisons.
Next year, I'll know to use my RF gain more than filter and threshold adjustments to make more than 75 contacts. Great contest!

Our score is off from last year but we did better with our QSO total. We had a few nice surprises during our CQ runs with calls from TA1DX, TR8CA, V73RY, CN8IG, EA8OM and SV9CVY that stand out among the many others.
We had a slow start on 15M. As you can see by the QSO count this low power station was intimidated by the crowd on 20M. We had a difficult time with S&P on 20 with so many HP stations it was hard to be heard and to copy stations. Our DX multipliers were down by 14 from last year mostly due to our poor performance on 20M. But the 40M country count was also down.
We held our own on 40M mostly due to the Force12 MAG240N equalizer. Hi Hi. The conditions here were good on 80M as the band was very quiet.
