C56JJ -- Dec 11, 2007 10:36 ET

It was hard to work some K-VE stations during the contest with my limited power and my ZS6BKW antenna, but I still enjoyed it. Never have been contesting before in another country so I guess I will be the No. 1 from The Gambia this time...

N8NR's 10M stacks after the ice

The 10M contest will be the last from the N8NR semi-super station for at least 6 months. Two weeks after the contest, the antennas went to their celestial reward courtesy of an ice storm. Hope that the station will be back in time for the next 10M contest! -- N9AG

PY2QA/QRP -- Feb 2, 2005 11:51 ET

This is my second year in the 10 meter contest as a QRP CW only entry. It was a great contest I really enjoyed despite the poor propagation. Thanks to all who listened for me. God bless us all. 73 from Adriano PY2QrpAlways. QTH: Americana - SP, Brazil. -- PY2QA

F6KCP -- Jan 11, 2005 06:50 ET

Single-op >150w SSB. That was tough going. I had major problems of local noise through-out the whole contest. S7 to the north, S5 to East and West !!!! and S3 to South East and south west. So practically had the beam pointed South for the whole contest. Managed only a few State side contacts. Will I be back next year.......? More than likely. Thanks for all the contacts that I did manage to make. C U in the next one 73 Robert F5VHN (Op-F6KCP (QRZ.com)) -- F5VHN

KD6HUC -- Dec 28, 2004 13:23 ET

Can't forget to thank my wife for keeping the coffee hot and topped off!

well, for starters I hadn't even planned on operating this contest, so I was scrambling to get set up about three hours after contest began. I am antenna restricted here, so I usually use Hamsticks and Hustler resonators to keep the neighbors satisfied but quickly realized that I needed a little more antenna efficiency. Digging in the garage I found the trusty Antron-99 vertical and a good chunk of coax. A little more searching and I had some PL-259's to solder on, but no U bolts anywhere to attach antenna to mast... Well, duct tape to the rescue again. Fortunately there was virtually no wind during day one, so that worked fine. The Icom 746 worked flawlessly as usual and I was fortunate to work most of the east coast as well as many southern states the first day. Sunday was a little tougher, but netted me much more DX and a million Islands. was I the only west coast statio who didn't hear a single JA? I also had a strange contact into Klamath falls Oregon which is only about 350 miles north of me and the only Oregon station I heard. I think this is why ten and six are my favorite bands,as you never can tell what will happen. thanx a million to everybody I worked and I am getting quicker with logging so I can make more contacts. Maybe next year I will do computer logging but the paper log seems to be more natural to me. Who knows? looking forward to next year already. 73 DE KD6HUC -- KD6HUC

WA9BXB -- Dec 27, 2004 17:01 ET

Had a great time during the contest running low power, mixed mode. The CW contacts really helped to increase my meager score. This is the first time I actually sent in my log. Although the band conditions were terrible, it was a good training exercise in picking out and identifying weak signals down in the noise level. Wearing headphones was a definite plus in the ability to copy. Managed to work everyone I could hear from my Illinois QTH. Mostly South American and the Carribean with a few West African countries and of course all arond the U.S.A. With the continuing decrease in Sunspots, I wonder what next years propagation will be like? Good luck to all. -- WA9BXB
