I'm thinking in a SHTF scenario many of us are going to be using small handhelds trying to hit local repeaters. If all the repeaters are plugged into the power grid aren't we all SOL?

Some repeaters have solar or generator backup. While repeaters are often used for emergency communications, different communities have different needs. In the Midwest, tornadoes are a big concern. On the West Coast, many groups are worried about large fires.
