I hope this is the correct forum for this question. I am attempting to set up my MacBook Air that runs El Capitan for digital and use with my TYT TH 9800. I can find no specific information for hardware connection and software configuration. All of the TYT information I have found only works with a PC. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do this?

Not exactly sure what you mean by running digital on an FM rig. Perhaps you mean Packet Radio?

The developer of a soundcard packet modem says he doesn't have a Mac, but would support a MAC developer in porting over his software.

FLdigi will run on OSX, but the modes it runs typically aren't used on FM rigs--it is normally used with HF SSB rigs.

W1VT Thanks for the come back. I would like to play with FLDIGI, but need to connect to my Mac. The help file says I have to connect to either the data port of the radio, or the microphone. I can't seem to find info on doing this with a Mac and a TH 9800.

You typically need two interface circuits.

One is typically called a sound card interface circuit, which connects the mic and headphones circuits together--often with transformers.

The other is a serial to USB interface. It is much harder to write USB port software, so most ham programs use serial ports and assume that the user will buy an inexpensive serial to USB interface.
