Which antenna is more efficient? A vertical of a 1/2 wave-length that resonates at the transmitted 40m frequency, or A vertical of 32feet with a tuner at its base adjusted for VSWR of 1,1 at the same 40m frequency? All other parameters are the same for both. Ignore any loss in the tuner. |

If we ignore tuner (and feedline) loss, then both systems are 100% efficient. They will have different radiation patterns, of course. Perhaps I misunderstood your question? Mark AI4BJ |
