W9INN Antennae question

Can someone help me determine what type of W9INN antennae I have. I bought it 10 years ago and its not the dipole with the sreaders that typically defines a W9INN antennae. Here are the specifics; The dipole is approximately 120' long. 60' from center of dipole ( W2UA balun in center joing diploe halfs) to end. 50" from center to 6" pvc with windings . 36' to 4" pvc with windings. What antennae is this from W9INN and what bands is it for. I'm going to set it up when I move but was wondering . I looked all over the web and all I see is the 4 legged W9Inn ant. Thanks John |

It is likely to be an 160/80/40 trap dipole. At 120 ft, it is too long for the lowest band to be 80 meters--as the traps act as loading coils on the lowest band. Zack Lau W1VT ARRL Senior Lab Engineer |

Thanks Zak, I looked everywhere looking for what it wis and like I said all I could find was the 2 legged W9INN model. I know the guy I got this from was a 160 man like myself. I am looking forward to setting it up in VA and thats when I can truely see what it is and can do. Thanks again for your input. John C |

William E. "Bill" Fanckboner, W9INN, of Mt Prospect, Illinois - the proprietor of W9INN Antennas - died July 30, 2004. He was 80. The W9INN Antenna products have ceased with his passing. "He did all of the work by himself, so W9INN Antennas is effectively out of business," said his daughter, Robin Randall. "He was the business." An ARRL member and supporter, Fanckboner turned his talents for radio and electronics into W9INN Antennas some three decades ago after working for Motorola, and he was a regular QST advertiser. Fanckboner designed and hand-built custom antennas, including the MPD-5C-78, MPD-2 and MDX-8C "hideaway" dipoles, and, his daughter says, he was working full time until a week prior to his death.
