Dan Henderson is the Regulatory Information Specialist of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the national association for Amateur Radio. He is responsible for providing up-to-date information and handling queries on FCC rules and regulations, antenna restrictions, and related topics. Before accepting the challenging job as RIS, Henderson was the Contest Branch Manager, running the ARRL's contest program for almost eight years.

First licensed in 1971 as WN4YMV, he later held the call signs WN4QQN, WD4HCY and WA4QQN. Henderson became N1ND (proud to be a Notre Dame alumnus) on the first day the vanity call sign program began in 1996.

His interests in Amateur Radio include emergency communications, public service, Elmering, contesting DXing and education.

In 1996, Henderson was given the Cash Gregg Award for Outstanding Contributions to Amateur Radio, presented by the Western Carolina Amateur Radio Society. He's written several published articles on a variety of topics (from Amateur Radio to baseball to political science) and contributed chapters in some of the League's publications.

Prior to working at ARRL Headquarters, Henderson was a Political Science Instructor at several colleges and universities, and earlier, a high school teacher and coach. Honors include: Outstanding Teaching Fellow, University of Vermont, 1990; Outstanding Western NC Educator of the Year 1984; Founders Award initial recipient - the WNC High School Model United Nations, 1987.

Henderson holds BA degrees in History from The University of Notre Dame and in Secondary Education from Appalachian State University and a M.A. degree in Political Science from The University of Vermont.

Outside of ham radio, Henderson enjoys golf, computers, travel, reading, Notre Dame athletics and being a life-long supporter of 2004 and 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox!
