Solar flux was up last week, while geomagnetic activity was down.
This is a nice combination because conditions are stable while the
Maximum Usable Frequency is up.  The A index for most of the week
has been in the single digits, and there were many periods with the
K index at zero or one.
 
Solar flux should stay in the mid-80s for the next month, with a
possible disturbance around February 26 and 27, as well as March 7,
12 and 13.  Conditions should be quiet again after March 16.
 
Scott Craig, WA4TTK has a new Windows version of the solar graphing
program mentioned in past bulletins.  This is a great way to view
trends in the current solar cycle, as well as play around with
different averaging and display options.  The program is free, and
available if you send a formatted high density disk with postage
paid return mailer to the author at 409 Jessie Drive, Nashville, TN
37211-3534.
 
Sunspot Numbers for February 16 through 22 were 48, 56, 57, 69, 75,
77 and 77, with a mean of 65.6.  10.7 cm flux was 85.6, 89, 88.8,
94.6, 90.8, 89 and 85.2, with a mean of 89.
 
The path projection for this week is from Denver, Colorado to Laos.
80 meters looks good from 1130z to 1345z, and 40 meters from 1100z
to 1430z.  Check 30 meters from 1430z to 1600z, and 20 meters from
1600z to 1900z.  The frequencies above 20 meters do not look good
over this path at this time.
