SB PROP @ ARL $ARLP016 ARLP016 Propagation de KT7H ZCZC AP84 QST de W1AW Propagation Forecast Bulletin 16 ARLP016 >From Tad Cook, KT7H Seattle, WA April 7, 1995 To all radio amateurs SB PROP ARL ARLP016 ARLP016 Propagation de KT7H Solar activity was down last week, averaging about 14 points below the previous period. April 5 had zero visible sunspots. Solar flux should rise, peaking in the mid nineties around April 17 through 20. After April 26 the flux should be back around 80. Conditions over the next few days should be disturbed, with a coronal hole having maximum effect around April 9. Watch for K indices around 4 or 5. Conditions should become quite stable after April 13, with the quietist geomagnetic conditions around April 17 and 18. Watch for another disturbance around April 22, with quiet conditions returning at the end of the month. The best worldwide propagation should be on 17 and 20 meters during daylight, and 20 through 40 meters after sunset. Although the 10 and 12 meter outlook is not good during this low part of the solar cycle, this Spring should yield some openings on these bands over north-south paths during periods of higher solar flux values. Sunspot Numbers for March 30 through April 5 were 46, 34, 30, 29, 28, 12 and 0, with a mean of 25.6. 10.7 cm flux was 79.7, 76.8, 75.4, 76.3, 75.2, 73.1 and 72.1, with a mean of 75.5. The path projection for this week is to Mariana Islands (KH0) from Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Tucson, Arizona. >From Alabama 80 meters should be open from 0900 to 1130z, 40 meters from 0800 to 1200, and 30 meters from 1200 to 1330. On some days 30 meters could open up to several hours earlier. 20 meters may open around 0500 and again from 1330 to 1430. Check 17 meters from 2000 to 0030, and 15 meters from 2100 to 0100. On some days 12 meters may be open from 2030 to 2330. Although unlikely, 10 meters may also be open over the same period. >From Arizona 80 meters looks good from 0830 to 1330z, and 40 meters from 0800 to 1430. 30 meters looks good from 0700 to 1500. Check 20 meters from 0430 to 0730 and again around 1430. 17 meters should be open around 2000 to 0500, and 15 meters from 2030 to 0300. Check 10 and 12 meters from 2100 to 2300. NNNN /EX
