ARLP033 Propagation de KT7H

Solar activity declined this week from the week previous, but solar
flux was above the average for the previous 90 days for the
thirteenth day in a row. The current 90 day average has just risen
from 70 to 71.

Solar flux is expected to go below 70 until August 22, and then peak
around the mid-seventies again on August 28. The geomagnetic field
is expected to stay stable over the month. 40 meters remains the
best worldwide band at night, while 20 meters is most reliable
during daylight hours.

W4VOS wrote a nice note pointing out an error in the text of
ARLP031, which stated that there were sunspots visible on July 19,
when it was really July 20 when we saw a sunspot count of 12. Also
in the mail this week was a generous gift from W7EYE of the 1953
edition of The Sun, by Gerard Kuiper.

Sunspot Numbers for August 1 through 7 were 32, 34, 30, 29, 20, 13
and 26, with a mean of 26.3. 10.7 cm flux was 80.4, 79.6, 79.3,
77.6, 74.1, 73, and 71.6, with a mean of 76.5.

This week we have a special path projection from the United States
for the Worked All Europe CW Contest this weekend.

From the East coast, check 80 meters from 0000z to 0600z, with
signals peaking around 0230-0330z. 40 meters looks good from 2230z
to 0730z, with strongest signals around 0030z to 0430z. 30 meters
looks good from 2100z to 0330z and again from 0500z to 0630z and
around 0900z. Strongest 30 meter signals should be from 2300z to
0300z. Check 20 meters from 1500z to 0130z, with the best bet from
2200z to 0030z. 15 meters may open around 1900z to 2100z.

From the mid-USA check 80 meters from 2230z to 1300z, with your best
shot around 0130z-0300z. 40 meters should be open around the clock
with the best period around 0100z and weakest signals around 0830z
and again at 1800z. Check 30 meters from 1200z to 0430z, and 20
meters around 1430z-1530z and 2000z-2130z.

From the West coast check 80 meters from 0200z to 1100z, with best
signals around 0400z-1000z. 40 meters should open from 0030z to
1300z, with strongest signals also around 0400z-1000z. 30 meters
looks good from 1230z to 1600z and 2200z to 0600z, with strongest
signals from 0200z to 0600z. Check 20 meters from 1430z to 0330z,
with best conditions around 1700z to 2200z.
