To all radio amateurs

SB SPCL ARL ARLX014
ARLX014 Ham-author to speak

Back for a return engagement at the 1995 Dayton Hamvention banquet
on April 29 will be Cliff Stoll, K7TA, who wowed the Dayton crowd in
1993.

Stoll, who was profiled in August 1990 QST, became a best-selling
author with the publication of his book ''The Cuckoo's Egg.'' He
later portrayed himself in a Public Television episode of ''Nova''
that dramatized the events described in ''Egg.''

Doubleday has just published Stoll's second book, ''Silicon Snake
Oil,'' that debunks many Internet myths and, according to Stoll,
contains a number of references to his Amateur Radio career.

Cliff Stoll is 44 and holds a PhD in planetary science. He's been a
licensed amateur since his teen-age days in Buffalo, New York. In
''Silicon Snake Oil'' he describes his earliest memories of his
fascination with radio and his parents' reaction to their son's
budding interest in science.

Stoll will sign copies of his book at the Books and Company
Hamvention booth on Friday. A portion of the proceeds from sales at
the Hamvention of ''Silicon Snake Oil'' will be donated to the
American Red Cross Disaster Relief Services.
