Description:

The Berks Amateur Radio Club members participated in the following activities during the year 2019.

May 2019 - Managed the Start/Finish Checkpoint for the Make a Wish Foundation truck convoy.   May 2019 - Performed Route Safety and Medical support for the Walk MS in Lancaster, PA.   September 2019 - Served as Radio Sweeps  for the KTA Trail Challenge in Lancaster and York Counties. They also assisted a struggling hiker with a cardiac episode   July 2019 - Field Day 2019 was held at the Spring Township Fire Station and EOC. We had 12 members attending with two stations operating. We worked over 100 contacts with stations as far as California and for a time we were able to hear Puerto Rico however conditions would not allow us to work them. Our group was able to operate on 40 and 80 meters which allowed for new hams in the hobby to operate under the guidance of our Extra Class members one of those was K3CWH operating on 40 meters with W4WXM. By operating at the EOC we able to operate under emergency power to complete our requirement for the class we were using during the field day exercise. Our group had a lot of fun and enjoyed being able to set up radio equipment in a pinch and start operating ham radio.   August 2019 - Members managed a booth and demonstrated radio equipment and its uses at the Central Berks County National Night Out.  BARC provided a high powered HT, ARRL Technician Class Manual and a free BARC membership for an event raffle.  This bundle was taken by a Boy Scout Leader, who wanted to interest his troop in Amateur radio.
