- Description:
-
The PCARA is a general interest ham radio club. We operate a VHF repeater on 147.195 (+600 KHz) pl tone 110.9 . All licensed amateurs are welcome. The repeaters are located in the central part of Polk County, WI near the town of Balsam Lake.
Many of our club members participate in annual events such as the ARRL Field Day in June. One of our functions is to work with our local county government and provide back-up communications during times of natural disasters. Our region of the US is susceptible to tornadoes and strong thunderstorms during the Spring and Summer months. Weather nets are often called to provide weather spotting reports to the National Weather Service.
